John C. Perry was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He developed a fascination for history at a very early age and a curiosity in the War Between the States, which fueled an interest in history that is just as strong today as it was in his youth. From the Alamo to Gettysburg to Pearl Harbor, American history captivated his interest.
Perry received a bachelor’s degree in history and taught history in public schools before beginning a successful business career. He continued to study American history throughout his life and wrote about it with a strong emphasis on both the War Between the States and the pre-war years. He has written a number of articles on the war and is the editor of two newsletters on the War Between the States.
Perry researched the topic of slavery for over three years. The culmination of this effort is the well-documented Myths & Realities of American Slavery.
