Recalled to active duty during the Korean War, Abner served in the Air Force’s psychological warfare program. He continued his broadcasting career in 1954 as a television sportscaster, anchorman, station manager, and owner. Concurrently, he served as campaign manager and consultant in Nevada campaigns for governor, U.S. senator, Supreme Court justice, and national campaigns for president in 1960, 1968, and 1972
