Charles D. Ross is an associate professor of physics at Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia. As author of Trial by Fire: Science, Technology and the Civil War and Civil War Acoustic Shadows, he is known internationally for his research examining the effects of acoustics on the Civil War. Ross lives in Charlottesville, Virginia, with his wife and two children.
